Living and read-only memory

How to celebrate and regenerate the music of the 18th century? It is written on scores that are only read only memory.    It is music that can be conceived in an intellectual way by musicologists.  Intellectuel comes from the Latin Inter, between and Lego meaning legacy as well as collect.

We do not only have intellectual faculties, we are intelligent; Ideas are made to be lived and not thought, so this is intelligent interpretation, alive and vibrant of today’s musician who will give him the depth and the sound color that one will listen religiously, conscientiously, in a meeting, in communion.  Intelligence comes from inter and ligare, so there is an etymological relationship between intelligence and religiosity.  To collect is to gather again what previous generations have given to us, with the deference we owe them.

The Paradise of machines is the same principle, except that the read only memory are industrial ready-mades and the color comes from industrial paint cans.

Our gaze naturally turns toward the colored machine, it is the flavor of the gaze; we are homo sapiens and sapiens is the root of knowledge and flavor.    It is the difference between the reception of this legacy from the past, its immediate perception that allows us to move towards understanding an entire era.

In the end, it is no longer the metal frame that we see under the painting, it is the invisible of an era, its entire cultural bassin, all the curriculum of Arts and Crafts and other engineering schools having the word Art in their name.

It’s all the work of the engineers who designed the machine on a drawing board, with all their experience,
as well as the work of people who have sweated, worked on these machines for hours and hours that echo to us.
